Coffee House and Open Mic Friday March 10th at 7:30

Our next Coffee House and Open Mic will be March 10th starting at 7:30 PM at the Christian Church of Connellsville on 212 S. Pittsburgh St.  It will feature live music, including an open mic, so come and bring your instruments, and sing your favorite song.  Admission is FREE and there will also be great coffee and snacks, so invite your friends, bring your talents, and come enjoy a fun evening with us.

Jr. Choir Returns

The Junior Choir ages K-12 will be meeting on Sunday, November 27 after church to practice for Christmas season.  All kids are invited to take part.  See Cheryl Keller or Janice Simpson.

Sr. Youth Group Saturday, December 10

Sonny wants to take the sr. youth group to California, Pa on Saturday December 10 to see the live nativity at the Disciples church there. It is from 6-8 PM and so meet at the church at 5:00. Let him know if you can go so we know how much transportation is needed.

Jr. Youth Group Sunday, December 11

The Junior Youth Group will be meeting on Sunday, December 11 after church until 3:00.  We will be having pizza, making crafts and playing games, etc.  Hope to see you there.  Any questions, see Cheryl Keller or Janice Simpson. 

Christmas Party December 11

The all church Christmas party will be from 4:30-7:00 with an appearance by Santa. In addition there will be games and dinner and songs. Come and bring your friends and neighbors. Let’s have fun together!

Carols by Candlelight Wednesday, December 14 @ 7:00

We can get so busy buying presents and getting ready for Christmas that we forget to stop and enjoy the true meaning of the season. So give yourself a present this year and come to this service where we will read Christmas poems in between singing some of our favorite Christmas hymns in our beautifully decorated sanctuary lit by candles.

Congregational Meeting and Tasting Party Sunday, December 18

first we will approve the slate of officers and the budget, then we will eat fabulous foods.

The Operation Christmas Child shoebox drive was a success!

We were able to fill 20 shoe boxes with the help of the congregation. The Junior Youth Group helped assemble the boxes and made Christmas cards to put into each of the boxes. Thanks to everyone who helped. We will be continue to do this project again next year.

Pittsburgh St.  It will feature live music, including an open mic, so come and bring your instruments, and sing your favorite song.  There will be coffee and snacks.  Invite your friends and come have fun. 

Jr. Youth Group


The Junior Youth Group (grades K-4) will be filling the boxes on November 13 and we will be making a delivery of the shoeboxes the week of November 16-23 which is national collection week.

Every shoebox gift we pack represents an opportunity to share the gospel. God is working to transform lives, save souls, and build His Kingdom through The Greatest Journey, a powerful discipleship program that was developed for children who receive shoeboxes through Operation Christmas Child. Remember “Each Shoebox is a Missionary.”

Thanksgiving Special Offering November 13-20

Disciples have a long, remarkable history of post-secondary and theological education. Gifts from the Disciples Mission Fund Thanksgiving Offering continue a Disciples tradition of helping emerging leaders find their vision, voice and vocation, supporting all of our 14 colleges or universities, 4 seminaries and 4 seminary foundations/divinity houses in our common ministry of education. Hanging of the Greens November 26 @ 9:00 AM

On Saturday, November 26, we will gather at the church at 9:00 AM to decorate the church for Christmas. It is a great way to get into the spirit of the season by decorating Christmas trees, hanging bows and wreaths, listening to Christmas music, while preparing our church for its most joyous season. This is a way that everyone can get involved in the life of the church.

Advent begins on November 27

The greatest season of all  begins at the end of this month, Advent. This year we are asking for new family ornaments to add to our tree. Please donate an ornament with your family name on it so that our tree will beautifully decorated and up to date with the members of the church. Also remember that we will be doing the Giving Tree again. More information to come.

Kids Club Begins October 5

Fall is here, school is back, and that means Kid's Club will be returning as well. Starting on October 5 our after school program for children from pre-school to 6th grade will be in session Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00. We will have Bible study, music, games and dinner, so contact the church office and register your child today, so that they will not miss out on the fun. Coffeehouse Friday, October 14 @ 7:30
Coffeehouse is back and so is our Open Mic.
Come listen to music or play some of your own. The mic is open to all and the coffee is hot and the desserts incredible. Admission is FREE so do not miss out

Youth Groups
The Jr. Youth Group (g k-5) will be going to Rich Farms on Sunday, October 2.
The Sr. Youth Group (g 6-12) will be meeting on Sunday, October 30.

Trunk or Treat Fall Carnival

Come and trick or treat at the Christian Church of Connellsville
212 S. Pittsburgh St. from 2-4 on Sunday, October 30.

This year we will have our cars decorated in festive Halloween scenes and we will also have carnival games to add to the fun! Many people will pass out candy while the trunks of their cars will be decorated. Hot chocolate will be available for the adults as well as the children, and free cookies as well.


Come and celebrate the harvest while you and your family reap a harvest of fun with your friends and neighbors at the Christian Church of Connellsville.

Summer

Vacation Bible School August 8-12 from 4-6


The Christian Church of Connellsville will hold it's annual Vacation Bible School on August 8-12 from 4-6 PM. This year we will be competing in the Faith Olympics. Come to play, sing, snack, and learn that "those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint -- Isaiah 40:31

Father's Day Breakfast Sunday June 19 8:30 AM

Sunday, June 19, is Father’s Day and once again the women of the church will be honoring the men of the church by serving them breakfast starting at 8:30 AM. The cost is FREE so don’t miss out. We need women to volunteer and men to eat and enjoy themselves. Feel free to invite your father to say thanks to all that he has done for you.


May

Baptism

On Sunday, May 15 we will welcome all six members of the membership class into membership of the Body of Christ and our congregation through the act of Christian baptism. This will take place during the Sunday service and we will have a reception afterwards. Be sure to come to show them your support and to remember your own baptism.

Coffee House May 13

This month's coffee house and open mic is May 13 and it will be the last one until the fall, so if there is a song you've been working on, hurry! This is your last chance for a while. The fun begins at 7:30 and bring your sweet tooth.

Mother's Day Breakfast

Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day and once again the men of the church will be honoring the women of the church by serving them breakfast starting at 8:00 AM.

The meal is free, so come for the food and fellowship and stay for Sunday School

April

Divine Desert Competition April 24

Get your recipes out! our first divine Desert competition will be Sunday, April to benefit Community Ministries. It costs $5 to enter a desert. Fill out a form from the bulletin and give it to the office or to Janice Simpson. On the day of the contest everyone is invited to taste each desert and vote for your favorite. Tasting is free.  Portions will be on sale to take home with all proceeds go to community ministries. Come and help us reach our goal of $250 for a worthwhile ministry in our community

will meet Sunday April 17 after church to have a picnic and a litter clean up activity in East Park.

Jr Youth Group (grades k-4) will meet Sunday April 17 after church to go bowling at Yough Lanes

 Events for Holy Week
There are many events taking place during Holy Week.

 Palm Sunday March 20

Last Supper Cantata at 7:00

Tell you friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your friends’ neighbors and your neighbors’ friends! The Last Supper is being revised for the first time in ten years. It will take place on Sunday, March 20 at 7 PM. Admission is free but we are requiring tickets in order to get a handle on the crowd, so call the office to get tickets.



Maundy Thursday

Common Meal at 7:00 PM

Since we are performing the Cantata we are not going to have our usual tenebrae service. Instead on Maundy Thursday we will have the Common Meal with few worship elements mixed in. This is a simple but joyous meal in which everyone is invited to bring a loaf of their favorite bread to share with one another. This meal is held in the Eater room and the Prayer Labyrinth will be open for anyone to use.  All are invited to attend.


Good Friday

Prayer Labyrinth 10-4 PM

 If you have never walked a prayer labyrinth before I invite you to try it. A prayer labyrinth is a unique maze in which there are twists and turns but no dead ends. There is one way in and one way out. A person enters the labyrinth in a prayerful and meditative state and contemplates their faith journey and their walk with Christ as they go. At each turn they are invited to ask God for help with a different issue in their life until they reach the center where they are invited to spend a few moments in silent prayer and thanksgiving. Then as they walk out they are invited to give thanks to God for a specific blessing at each turn they encounter. Only four people will be able to walk the labyrinth at one time and it takes about 15-20 minutes. Stop in any time during these hours and see what it is all about.


Easter Sunday

Our uplifting service begins at 10:45 followed by an egg hunt for the children.


February

Soup Cook off February 7

Get your recipes out! The Souper soup cook off will be Sunday, February 7 to benefit Community Ministries. It costs $5 to enter a soup. Fill out a form from the bulletin and give it to the office or to Janice Simpson On the day of the contest everyone is invited to taste each soup and vote for your favorite. Tasting is free. Soups will be on sale to take home for $1 a bowl. All proceeds go to community ministries. Come and help us reach our goal of $250 for a worthwhile ministry in our community and take some home to enjoy during the big game later that night




Coffee House and Open Mic Friday, February 13 @ 7:30


The Christian Church of Connellsville will hold its next Coffee House and Open Mic on Friday, February 13 starting at 7:30 PM at the Christian Church of Connellsville on 212 S. Pittsburgh St.  Come in from the cold and let us warm you up with our perfect blend of steaming drinks, warmly inviting deserts, and hot music. Bring yourself, bring an instrument, bring your Valentine and join the fun.


Sr. Youth Group will meet after church on Sunday, February 14 from noon-3.

Coffee House Friday the 8th @ 7:30

 Come to our coffee house and warm your body with the delicious drinks and warm your spirit with the fantastic music. Admission is free, the microphone is open, and the desserts are Heavenly.



Kids Club begins again!

We will start the second semester of our Kids Club program on Wednesday January 6 @ 4:00. Bring your children ages 3-12 for another semester of faith, friends, and fun. Children can join any time. Annual reports are due in the office by January 15.


Installation of Officers

All officers new and old will be installed into their office during the Sunday service on January 17. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this important service.

Christmas Giving Tree

Our annual food drive has begun again. The Giving Tree is in our Easter Room and will be decorated with tags that have food items written on them. Please take a few and buy the item listed on the tags and bring them in to fill our sleigh. All proceeds go to Community Ministries food bank.

Our coffee house has been a big success and Christmas has been the best time to come, so come Friday, December 11, at 7:30 PM and enjoy it again.  We will feature live music, including an open mic, so come sing your favorite song or Christmas carol and enjoy the drinks and snacks Admission is free so don't miss out. Everyone is invited to attend the annual congregational meeting immediately after church to vote on the budget and slate of officers for 2016 and then retire to the Fellowship Hall to enjoy the Christmas treats.

Our MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) is off and running! All mothers of children from newborn to kindergarten age are invited to come the first Tuesdays of each month from 5:30-7:30 to enjoy a time to share with other moms, learn, snack and make a craft.  Childcare is provided during meetings. Playdates will also occur the 3rd Tuesday of the month, held throughout the community. click here for more info.

Stewardship Campaign November 8-22

It’s time for our annual stewardship campaign. The theme for this year’s campaign will be, “Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart"
    The campaign begins on November 8. Pledge cards will be mailed out and will also be available in the church bulletin starting on November 15. You can make your pledge at any time by mailing it or dropping it off to the church office or by placing it in the offering tray during Sunday worship. The campaign culminates on November 232, when we will offer our pledges to God in thanksgiving for all that he has given us.
    The reason we have a stewardship emphasis is to make each member aware of the church’s need and of the ways in which God has been generous to us and to help the budget committee craft a budget for the coming year when they meet on November 29.   We hope that this will be a time to truly marvel at how much we have and truly honor the One who has given it to us.

Church Picnic Sunday, September 13

We will meet again at Camp Laurelview beginning at 2:30 on Sunday, September 13. We will eat at 4, have games for the kids at 5, and a campfire, songs, and s'mores at 6:00. Before dinner play games, go fishing or take a walk up to the cross at our region's beautiful campsite. Contact the office for directions to the site.

Sr. Youth Group meets Sunday, September 27 from 4:00-7:00 PM

The Sr. Youth Group (5-12) will meet on Sunday, September 27 at Yough Park to ride bikes on the bike trail. At 5:00 we will go the home of the Ainsley's for a picnic and games. We will conclude at 7:00.

Kids Club Begins October 7

FREE Car Wash
To celebrate the grace of Christ which is absolutely free we want to
do something free for the city of Connellsville. That is why we are once again offering a free car wash for anyone on Saturday August 15 from 10-12. Come get your car clean, and don't pay us back, pay it forward.

Promotion Sunday
All children going into a new Sunday School class will be honored on Sunday, August 30. This includes all children going into 1st, 4th, and 7th grade. All children going into 4th grade will receive a Bible with their name on it.
